The exhibition URBAN AFFAIRS takes a closer look at the development of contemporary art genres, namely Urban Art and Streetart and puts the regional evolution into an international context.
Especially in Berlin Street- and Urban Art form an integral part of the citiy’s public image and for this reason is attracting more and more international attention. Many artists, art-lovers and tourists travel to Berlin each year scan the city searching for new artworks. The great appeal deriving from Streetart is based on the fact that this virgin art genre is mostly exhibited publicly and is therefore perceived by a broad audience. We, the exhibitors, hope to fully live up to the expectations of our audience, by presenting milestones in urban art during our exhibition from data: 05.07. till 03.08.2008.

The exhibition’s motto "Urban Affairs" is a bilateral approach of addressing participating artists as well as interested visitors to identify uniqueness as well as similiarities among new artistic intersections in the streetart genre. The first weekend of the four-week exhibition is designed as a public event. Each visitor will have the opportunity to participate actively in the creation process of urban artwork and can take a look over the shoulder of professional street artists. The Press and the media are encouraged to use this unique chance to find out more about the participating artists.
Another approach hopefully easing access to this special the art genre, will be the envisaged invitation of local school classes as well as students of the Berlin universities from the faculty of visual arts and design.

The exhibition presents more than 25 internationally well known artists from a total of 8 countries, mainly Germany, Spain and Poland, but also from Hungary to Greece even upto Canada. Participants will exhibit their work in the exhibition hall during the first weekend together, as well as individually. We hope to make a great show for visitors and all artists !!
