“How dare you..?” interprets the ‘scream’ as an impetuous reaction and as a reaction against a forbidden action. This is the intention and the goal of the artists that propose artworks based on the Stockartist model, and to break the paradigm that holds the art market; in order to make it turn back and respond by this sentence of daring when it feels like someone or something is touching or slapping its forbidden parts, intruding into its vital space.

Stockartist is an artistic movement initiated by DHAdmann that consists of a new model for the art market. It combines art works with special characteristics, the world-wide web and institutions to reach a wider range of audiences. It allows almost anyone to be a participant in the decisions that define or will define art. The objective is to change the perception of art using a democratic, accessible, certain and interesting way to engage with contemporary art.

The Stockartist mechanism works as a computer virus or as an “alien” in the body. This has been conceived and designed to feed into and be accepted by the art market. And after this mechanism is inside the art market, it will react, question and deconstruct the basic form of the latter. For example, the decision-making procedures such as: the distinction between “good” and “bad” art, the definition of “good” artists and the setting up of prices. Step by step, with the participation of every exhibition and every artist that adhere to this model, there will be a progressive decentralization of the above-mentioned decisions. Therefore, in the future, many and not just a few people will re-define what is known as ‘art’.

The Opening reception at the Room is at 20:00, Friday, June 6th 2008.
